Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor is calling on local volunteer organisations to apply for grants of up to $5,000.
The Federal Government’s 2021 Volunteer Grants program is open once again, supporting volunteering in local communities.
“Volunteers play a critical role in our towns and villages. Sporting clubs, ex-service organisations, community committees, Landcare groups, charities, emergency services – they all survive on volunteer support,” Mr Taylor said.
Mr Taylor is strongly encouraging volunteer organisations to put their hand up for some financial help.
“Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to not-for-profit community organisations to support their volunteers through practical measures like purchasing small equipment items or reimbursement for the cost of fuel, training and background checks.
Marulan RFS received $3,280 for an ipad and desktop computer under the 2019 Volunteer Grants round.
Expressions of interest for this round of Volunteer Grants close at 5pm on Friday 16 April 2021.
A local committee of community representatives will assess all expressions of interest received and determine which groups will be invited to apply.
Successful groups will then be invited to submit a full application assessed by the Department of Social Services.
Expression of interest forms are available at the Goulburn and Camden Electorate Offices, or you can email angus.taylor.mp@aph.gov.au to request one.
Further information, including detailed guidelines and eligibility criteria, is available on the Department of Social Services website: https://www.dss.gov.au/grants.
