After responding to nearly 200 assistance emergency requests last year, the Goulburn SES unit has been awarded $10,000 to update equipment.
The one time grant a community purpose grant was announced by Minister for Police and Emergency Services, David Elliott while visiting the volunteers of the unit alongside Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Goulburn MP, Wendy Tuckerman and NSW SES Deputy Commissioner Damien Johnston.
“This grant is just one example of the NSW Government’s commitment to investing in NSW SES and its volunteers,” Mr Elliott said.
“I want to thank the volunteers of the Goulburn Unit for their ongoing commitment to protecting their community from storms and floods,” he said.
“The volunteers are members of the community that give up their time and put the needs of others ahead of their own, so it is important we do what we can to support them.”
Ms Tuckerman was pleased to see state attention on the efforts of local NSW SES volunteers.
“Over the past 12 months, our unit has responded to more than 180 requests for assistance,” Ms Tuckerman said.
“They still deserve to have the equipment and resources they need to do the job.”
This grant will be able to help Goulburn Unit purchase new touch screens and equipment, which will help with displaying real-time situational awareness as they respond to severe weather events.
