The $100 million Stronger Country Communities Fund Round Four is now open, and strong encouragement is being given to girl’s and women’s sporting groups, in particular, to apply.

Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman today encouraged applications for projects that improve female sports facilities, local amenities, boost community morale and improve health and well-being. Mrs Tuckerman said up to $50 million is dedicated to the delivery of female sports facilities and programs, to encourage greater female participation across all levels and codes across regional NSW.

“The Goulburn electorate has a rich sporting history and I can see that participation is growing – particularly for women’s sport - and this funding will help “level the field” for the region. We’ve already seen the benefits that the Stronger Country Communities Fund has delivered to our communities, such as the Bundanoon Skate Park, Goulburn Moto Park, Murrumbateman Tennis and Crookwell’s Lin Cooper Field,” Mrs Tuckerman said.

Minister for Women, Bronnie Taylor, said the NSW Government’s commitment to delivering better facilities is another step towards levelling the playing field for girls and women in sport. Mrs Taylor said providing facilities, particularly women’s change rooms, ensures all female athletes are supported from grassroots to elite level to participate in the widest range of sports, including once male dominated codes.

Applications for Stronger Country Communities Fund Round Four opened on 1 May 2021 and closes on 25 June, 2021. For more information, including program guidelines and eligibility criteria, visit: www.nsw.gov.au/SCCF
