The Best Source for COVID-19 Information

share

In the past week the COVID-19 situation in NSW has definitely gotten worse, and expressions such as “national emergency”, “high alert”, and “potential border closures” can be heard on many news programs.

In case you weren’t aware, there is an objective source of information that you can access by computer, namely the Australian Government Department of Health: https://www.health.gov.au/

When the site opens, you will see an orange bar across the top, which contains today’s date and a link to COVID-19 information. When you click on this bar, it will take you to a page that has the latest case numbers, vaccines, travel and restrictions, protecting ourselves and others, along with information especially for the aged care and disability sectors.

One of the best features on the site is that you can click on a link to access information about any Australian state or territory that interests you. This brings you to a page with the most up-to-date information for that state/territory. In terms of case numbers and where they are located, there is an especially useful map feature listed under “Case locations and statistics”, which allows you to see a map of the area you are interested in along with case numbers identified on the map. You can zoom into the map, so that you can drill down to see exactly where cases are located. Then you can zoom out so that you get a good look at the bigger picture.

The beauty of this trusted source of information is that you are in control. Unlike morning television news shows that can sometimes repeat the same stories several times an hour, you can choose when you access the site and how much or how little you read. The Australian Government Department of Health site comes highly recommended.
