Bondi2BlueMtns – Ride to Remember

share

The Bondi2BlueMtns Ride to Remember is a four-day charity bike ride taking place from Saturday 6 to Tuesday 9 March 2021 (postponed from September 2020). The ride is an extension of the annual Bondi2Berry ride one day ride, the inaugural ride which started in 2016. The objective is to raise awareness of dementia and fundraise to help research a cure for dementia.

Combined fundraising since the 2016 has exceeded $500,000 and in 2019 a research project called Cage vs Age, which hopes to halt the spread of tau protein in the brain was fully funded through this ride.

The Bondi2BlueMtns ride will depart Bondi and travel north west to the Blue Mountains and returning to Sydney via Goulburn and Kiama. There will be two groups of 20 riders taking on the challenge, riding a total distance is 650kms with an elevation of over 8,000m.

Sunday 7 March is the Lithgow to Goulburn leg and the group will travel 210km and 3,200m elevation with arrival in Goulburn approx. 5pm. Monday 8 March is the Goulburn to Kiama leg and will cover 155km and 1,800m elevation, departing from Goulburn approx. 7.30am.

By the time the groups reach Goulburn they will have already cycled an elevation gain of nearly 2/3rds the height of Mt Everest in just 2 days!

The best vantage point to see the group as they ride into Goulburn is at North Park on Chantry Street. Give a wave or a clap in support of a great cause and an amazing effort.
